"Enchanted by the Sea" is a contemporary addition to the Latvian choral music tradition, where traditional a cappella singing is combined with powerful pieces of music with its roots in the popular and world music; it is written for mixed choir, instrumental group and electronics. Music by composer Kristaps Krievkalns, based on poetry by Kārlis Kazāks.
A preview of the program, as filmed in Latvia last summer.
The mixed voice choir Anima, from the beautiful Baltic coastal town of Saulkrasti, was founded in 2001, and is led by artistic director Laura Leontjeva and conductor Matīss Tučs, together with vocal coach Elīna Ose. Anima's characteristic trait is its ability to be in constant movement and change – not afraid to experiment with performances, styles and characters. Their varied repertoire includes folk, classical, and popular music. The choir has issued creative music videos showcasing its artistry.
